Nopa Part 2

I've been back to Nopa a few more times since the last post and on a mission to try everything on the menu at least once despite knowing that the menu changes seasonally. It's the one restaurant that I don't mind waiting hours in line for. Winner of the best burger.

The Bitter End

I've only been the The Bitter End once before for Trivia Night so when my friend claimed that The Bitter End has the best burger, I was curious. Since I was on the search for the best burger in San Francisco, I had to try it of course. The bacon and avocado topping made the burger awesome and it was a greasy, tasty, diner-style burger. I agreed with my friend that so far, it was the best I've had in the city but note, this was before I had Nopa's burger. The thick fries at The Bitter End though are top-notch so if I could get a Nopa burger with The Bitter End's fries, it would be the burger & fries of my dreams.

Smitten Ice Cream

Located in a cute red stand in Hayes Valley, this place makes ice cream to order in 60 seconds using liquid nitrogen. Pretty cool concept except that I couldn't really tell by the taste that this ice cream is more fresh or different than any other ice cream. The September seasonal flavor: Crème Fraîche with Pear Caramel was good but I kind of had Fresh Mint Chip envy, which my friend got. Glad I tried it and maybe I'll be back if I'm in the neighborhood.

Domo Sushi

Knowing how tiny the restaurant is, we went early enough to avoid the long wait I always hear about and see. Along with an ice-cold Sapporo, we tried a myriad of dishes: the Hamachi Carpaccio, Chef's Seasonal Sashimi Choices, Albacore Nigiri, Salmon Citron Roll, and Grilled Hamachi Kama.

The whole meal was fairly expensive for the serving sizes and I prefer Otoro Sushi just a few blocks over.

The Corner Store

I'm a big fan.

While waiting for a table I had the Noble Buck cocktail, which threw me off with its spiciness. There were actual chili pepper flakes in the drink. Highlights were the Pork Belly & Burrata small plate (unpictured) and the roasted chicken. I want those two dishes again.

I tried the duck plate with farro and... I'm really not a duck person. Dessert was Brown Butter Apricot Cake with honey buttered almonds, vanilla ice cream, and fried sage.
